Senior Hachnosas Kallah Project

By Leah Mandelbaum

When a Bruriah girl finally becomes a senior, it’s easy for her to think she has “arrived.”  With frees, driving privileges, and Dunkin Donuts, it doesn’t get much better than this.  Yet, in Bruriah, we believe that there is always room for improvement.  That’s where the seniors’ Hachnosas Kallah project comes in.

With help from Aliza and Mrs. Skaist, the organizers of the project, the grade tries to collect $3,700 (or more!) to sponsor an Israeli orphan’s wedding through an organization called Simchat Tzion.  Through fundraising, an upcoming “Bowl-a-thon,” and other creative methods of raising money, the grade hopes to reach their goal of providing a beautiful wedding for an Israeli orphan.  Not only does this serve to promote achdus in the grade by

uniting for a common purpose, it also allows the girls to give

to Klal Yisrael.

To introduce the project, the seniors were invited to

the ballroom where a delicious spread of ice cream, fruit, and

granola awaited them.  They then had the privilege of listening

to Rabbi Marcus explain the importance of the mitzvah of

Hachnosas Kallah.

The lucky seniors who will be in Israel during winter

vacation will even be able to attend the wedding the grade

plans to sponsor.  We wish the seniors luck in achieving their

goal.  Tizku L’Mitzvos!
