The ubiquitous opinion is that freshmen are rather challenged when it comes to the “cool factor”, but the snow-tubing trip the freshmen and juniors had on Monday, March 3, at Campgaw Mountain proved that to be a common misconception. The trip was part of the big sister/little sister program in school, where each junior is paired with one or two freshmen to befriend and provide with experienced, sisterly support. Despite the warm weather – 50 degrees – the trip was still successful, and everyone had a great time. The weather, however, did hinder the quality of the slopes by rendering the snow soft and slushy rather than icy and sleek, thus causing the tubes to slow or halt in descent. This deterred some girls from snow-tubing, and brought many people to gather in the lodge. This provided the juniors with the opportunity to meet and chat with their freshmen sisters, to make new friends, and to dispel old notions. After leaving Campgaw Mountain, the girls took a trip to the new kosher Cinnabon and Carvel in Paramus, where we enjoyed tasty treats. After years of enjoying the fragrant smell at the mall yet having to forego buying it, the students were excited to buy Cinnabon’s products for they were not kosher previously. (Note: most still are not.) School was canceled for the rest of the day, and the students were excited to go home early after such a fun and exhausting day. |
