It’s only early December, but Chanukah is already upon us. Just as Yosef succeeded in this week’s Sidra in maintaining his steadfast commitment to Hashem while living in a world totally opposed to one God, the Macabim succeeded in defeating the Hellenist philosophy and setting the stage for our success in keeping Torah and Mitzvot in our world. We began the celebration this week with some awesome Ruach in the Ballroom (preceded on Wednesday by delicious latkes, courtesy of the Bruriah PTA). Stay tuned for next week as the Chanukah programs continue, starting with a day off for Chanukah on Monday. Even before Chanukah’s arrival, things in school were full of energy as the freshmen returned from their awesome Shabbaton right here in Elizabeth. Shabbat was filled with fun and games as the 9th graders had a chance to get to know each other, as well as some of their teachers. They even discovered some hidden theatrical talent over the weekend. You may have noticed that the basement in and around the library has been a beehive of activity this week. Between Seminary interviews and 8th grade interviews, we’ve got people coming and going. Good luck to everyone as you prepare for new beginnings. Chag Sameach to all. Rabbi Oratz Principal |
