Rabbi JOSEPH ORATZ has been involved in education for more than 35 years. In his years at Bruriah, the school has grown into an academic community in which girls from varied backgrounds and communities collaborate and learn from each other. “Bruriah provides a first-rate curriculum taught by an exceptional faculty. Equally important, our students teach each other. There is strength in our diversity,” says Rabbi Oratz. Learning with each other and from each other maximizes each girl’s individual achievement and sense of unity. Under the supervision of Rabbi Pinchas Teitz, z”l, Rabbi Oratz innovated the unique Torah Sh’B’al Peh curriculum for girls’ schools that has subsequently been copied by many schools around the country. Rabbi Oratz has a BA in Psychology from Yeshiva College, Smicha from Rabbi Isaac Elchanon Theological Seminary, an MSW from Wurzweiler School of Social Work, and an MEd in Educational Administration from Columbia Teachers College. This combination of educational backgrounds makes him a dynamic leader and tremendous resource for students, teachers, and parents.
